With all this jabber about The Cloud these days, just what is The Cloud? In my view the cloud is the consumer market version of services like Amazon Web Services, the service I use and often mention here. Amazon Web Services or AWS created the first mass scale virtual computing environment that they appropriately named EC2 or Elastic Compute Cloud. Many of the various cloud services are now being provided by third party "middlemen" that provide added-value.

How To Get Real Work Done In Windows 7

How can you run Windows and still be able to get real work done? Let's use Windows 7 + Oracle Virtualbox + Linux or Solaris running as a virtual machine under Windows using seamless mode for the virtual OS. Very easy to setup using the Virtualbox setup wizard. Use all available processor threads because the setup wizard will default to one single processor thread. Also make as much memory available to the Virtual Machine based on the number of machine processes available, divided by the number of virtual machines + the host machine.
